THE STORY
Hype Studios & Rentals Silver Lake/Los Angeles started in 2015 as a supplier of a single Jiffy steamer in the garage of a former model/dancer. Today, in 2024, Hype is comprised of a 14000-sq ft cyclorama stage in Silver Lake as well as a full inventory (not just stylist equipment!) including Profoto gear and vans full of grip & electric. The LGBT-owned business is now one of Los Angeles’s favorite photo and video studios as well as meeting spaces. The team, and studio, is built on kindness and a customer-service focused approach — always with a smile on our faces, we are passionate about providing creatives and businesses a safe space to get their job and guide their project to completion.
Hype is not only home to photographers and directors shooting their work; we have also hosted corporate retreats, meditation gatherings, non-profit board meetings, lectures, projector conferences, wardrobe fittings, production base-camps, production pre-pro meetings, fashion shows, and live events.
